A counter-drone sensor for the dismounted soldier

A weapon-mounted sensor that helps a soldier find and hold a small drone, sized for a rifle and powered from what the soldier already carries.

In developmentProgram-dependent; discussed against a specific requirement

The problem

The drone is seen late, if at all

Small units now face drones overhead with little organic capability against them. The target is small, fast and often against clutter, and the soldier has seconds.

Anything that rides on a rifle has to be light, rugged and run on a battery for a full mission.

Why event sensing

Motion stands outA still background is silent, so a small mover against trees or sky is what the sensor reports.
Day and nightPer-pixel adaptation keeps the scene usable from bright sky to low light.
Works while movingRemoving the soldier’s own motion is the same step used for robot navigation.
Soldier power budgetLow-power processing on the module, with no external compute to carry.

Evidence

Where it starts

The same detect-and-track behavior shown in our ground field recordings. Integration detail is provided under appropriate agreement.
